A woman was injured Sunday morning following her vehicle was found upside down in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.

It was around 7 a.m. that a call was made to 911 regarding an overturned vehicle, possibly following a collision, at the corner of Notre-Dame and Sainte-Catherine streets.

When they arrived on scene, the police extricated the driver, who was in her twenties.

“She was unconscious while being transported. During transport, she regained consciousness and, according to the latest news, there is no fear for her life,” indicated Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).

A perimeter was erected and, as a result, Notre-Dame Street was closed to traffic in both directions between Dickson and Viau Streets.

Investigators were called to the scene to shed light on the situation. For the moment, all hypotheses are being considered by the SPVM, ranging from speed to drunk driving, said Officer Brabant.
