The 70th Berlinale opened on Thursday evening at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. The stars and starlets dressed up for the event in the German capital. Actress Jessica Schwarz, for example, came in a pink trouser suit, and icon Iris Berben put on an elegant dress with glitter applications.
However, Veronica Ferres and Lilly Krug caught the eye. The mother-daughter team chose colorful looks for the opening of the Berlinale. The 54-year-old opted for a classic satin robe in a bright blue. The figure-hugging, three-quarter-length dress, which featured a sophisticated cut-out from the right shoulder, combined the actress with silver strappy heels and a sparkling clutch. She wore her slightly wavy hair to the side parting.

Her 18-year-old daughter appeared in a romantic, playful tulle dress that fell to the floor in several layers. The transparent sleeves and the deep neckline made the red robe an additional eye-catcher. Her blond, long hair was also carried openly over her shoulders in the side parting. As for the accessories, she did the same to her mother: a white clutch and strappy heels completed the look.
Lilly Krug has only been in the spotlight for a few months. For her daughter’s 18th birthday, Veronica Ferres posted a shared picture on Instagram. Since then, the mother-daughter team has regularly attended various events together – as is now the case at the Berlinale.
Show runs of superlatives
Alongside Lilly Krug and Veronica Ferres, there were many other stars on the red carpet, including Lena Meyer-Landrut in a black and white dress, Stefanie Giesinger in an exciting robe with a high leg slit and Meret Becker in a white dream dress with a long train. You can see all looks in our Photo Show, The opening film of the Berlinale is the book adaptation “My Salinger Year”. One of the main roles is played by the American Sigourney Weaver, who also appeared on the red carpet.
The gala was overshadowed by the Hanau attack. According to “rbb24.de”, the new festival heads Carlo Chatrian and Mariette Rissenbeek commemorated the victims of the allegedly extreme right-wing attack with a total of eleven fatalities with a minute’s silence. Around 340 films will be shown at the 70th Berlinale until March 1st. The Golden and Silver Bear will be awarded on February 29th. The British actor Jeremy Irons chairs the international jury this year.
