Vienna is getting a new center for science education instead of the Helnwein Museum – World

A little more than 20 years ago, the over 300-year-old building at Bäckerstrasse 20 in downtown Vienna was extensively renovated. It was intended to be a science gallery – in the form of exhibition rooms for the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). The first (and currently last) exhibition opened in 2005 under the direction of Albena Yaneva. After a few months, the science communication project failed before it could really get started: Yaneva was not granted the funds that would have been necessary for further communication activities and left.
