Vietnamese Film ‘Rabbit, Look!’ Surpasses $8.5M USD in Sales

Hanoi, Vietnam – Tran Thanh’s latest film, “Tho Oi!” (roughly translated as “Rabbit, Come On!!”), is proving to be a massive success during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday season, exceeding 200 billion VND in box office revenue as of February 21, 2026. The romantic comedy has dominated the Vietnamese box office, significantly outpacing its competitors and solidifying Tran Thanh’s position as a leading filmmaker in the country.

The film’s impressive performance comes as little surprise, given Tran Thanh’s established brand and consistent popularity with Vietnamese audiences. “Tho Oi!” has captivated viewers with its blend of humor and heartfelt storytelling, attracting large crowds to cinemas across Vietnam. The success is particularly notable during Tet, a peak season for film releases and a crucial period for box office earnings.

According to Box Office Vietnam, as of 10:00 AM on February 20th (the fourth day of Tet), “Tho Oi!” had 4,511 screenings, selling over 201,000 tickets and generating over 190 billion VND in revenue. When including pre-sale revenue, the total has surpassed 136 billion VND. The film’s production team actively engaged in promotional activities throughout various provinces and cities, including a meet-and-greet event with fans in Hai Phong on the third day of Tet, attended by Tran Thanh, Van Mai Huong, Quoc Anh, Pop Kieu, and Lily.

“Tho Oi!” Dominates Tet Box Office Competition

The overwhelming success of “Tho Oi!” has created a substantial gap in revenue compared to other films released during the Tet season. Notably, “Nha Ba Cua Ong” (Father’s House, One Room), directed by Trang Giang, currently holds the second position, having earned over 44 billion VND. This demonstrates a significant difference in performance, highlighting the strong appeal of Tran Thanh’s latest project.

“Tho Oi!” features a cast including Dinh Ngoc Diep, BB Tran, Gil Le, and Chris Phan. The film is described as a comedy-drama with a youthful sensibility, aiming to bring joy and laughter to audiences during the Lunar New Year. Tran Thanh himself expressed his hope that the film would resonate with young and passionate viewers, capturing the diverse emotions of Tet.

Special Appearances and Genre Blend

The film likewise includes special guest appearances, adding to its appeal. Tran Thanh has consistently delivered box office hits during the Tet holiday season in recent years, and “Tho Oi!” continues this trend. The movie blends psychological romance with comedic elements, offering a unique cinematic experience for Vietnamese audiences. The director’s talent is evident in the film’s ability to connect with viewers.

The first still images of “Tho Oi!” were released in December 2025, generating anticipation among fans. The film’s dark tones and mysterious red hues, as seen in the posters and trailers, hint at a suspenseful and intriguing narrative. “Tho Oi!” is expected to continue its strong performance throughout the remainder of the Tet holiday and beyond.

As “Tho Oi!” continues to draw audiences, the film’s success signals a positive start to the Vietnamese film industry in 2026. The coming weeks will reveal the full extent of its impact on the box office and its lasting legacy within Vietnamese cinema.
