Viktorija Golubic (WTA 90) did not defy the predictions at the Hobart tournament. The Zurich resident lost 6-2 6-4 to the Czech Marie Bouzkova (WTA 36).
Brilliant last fall with 3 successes in ITF tournaments which allowed her to return to the WTA top-100, Viktorija Golubic is starting the year on a minor note. Exited in the 1st round last week of the WTA 125 in Canberra by the Dane Clara Tauson, she leaves Hobart with a clear defeat, but also with 2 successes in the qualifying table which cannot do any harm for her morale.
Faced with Bouzkova, Golubic had his chance. She, in fact, led 3-0 in the second set before giving up. The Zurich native is now heading to Melbourne where she is the only Swiss admitted directly into the main draw.
