Violation of discipline: Five Sri Lankan ministers suspended Violation of discipline: Five Sri Lankan ministers suspended

Colombo: The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has suspended five ministers including two senior ministers of the Sri Lankan government for violating party discipline.

Party General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara told reporters that he has been temporarily suspended pending an explanation. Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala D’Silva, Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amarweera and three other junior ministers in President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s government were suspended by the party central committee.

The action is considered to have violated the Central Committee’s decision that they will not be a part of the government. This is when the approval vote for the crucial budget of 2023 is going to take place in the Parliament. Wickremesinghe has not sacked ministers from the cabinet.
