A violent fire broke out on Friday followingnoon in the former cinema of the former Voos galleries, in the center of Verviers, firefighters said. There were no injuries to report because the building was abandoned and was to be demolished as part of the CityMall project.
The places were regularly squatted. More than thirty firefighters from rescue zone 4, Vesdre Hoëgne and Plateau are fighting the fire, which broke out around 4:00 p.m. Residents of neighboring buildings were evacuated and rue du Brou, a shopping street in Verviers, is closed to traffic to allow the intervention of emergency services.
