This Thursday, September 5, at 7:30 p.m., the Villa de Molina de Segura Theater will be the scene of the Proclamation of the 2024 Patron Saint Festivities, which will be in charge of the renowned orchestra director Virginia Martínez Fernández, originally from Molina de Segura.
Virginia Martinez, a prominent figure in the world of classical music, currently holds the positions of honorary director of the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia (OSRM), principal conductor of the Young Symphony Orchestra of Cantabria (JOSCAN) and Professor of Orchestral Conducting at the Murcia Superior Conservatory of Music (CSMM).
Since his beginnings, Martínez has developed a brilliant international career. He graduated in 1999 from the Murcia Higher Conservatory of Music, specializing in Piano, Harmony and Counterpoint. Subsequently, he expanded his studies in Vienna, where he received training from renowned teachers and culminated with honors in 2003, conducting the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Throughout his career, he has conducted prestigious orchestras such as the National Orchestra of Spain, the National Orchestra of Mexico, the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, and the Wiener Kammerorchester, among others. He has also worked with renowned soloists such as Javier Perianes and María Bayo.
Virginia Martínez has been recognized for her work and talent, being named «Young Person of the Year” in 2004 for the Region of Murcia and has received multiple awards, including «Murciana Woman of the Year 2018».
Martínez’s proclamation, which will open the celebrations of the Patron Saint Festivities, promises to be a memorable event for the community of Molina de Segura, highlighting his continued commitment to culture and his love for his hometown.
