| |

Vivo has that in China today X50 series presented. This name suggests a certain similarity to the Realme X50 – after all, the two companies belong to the same parent company. In fact, the devices do not have much in common. Both the Vivo X50 and the Vivo X50 Pro rely on one Snapdragon 765G and are therefore not to be understood as a flagship. The X50 Pro uses stabilization for the first time, which is a preliminary step on the way toGimbal in the smartphone”That Vivo presented in the Apex 2020 concept phone. You can find out what distinguishes the devices in this article.

Both devices run with it FunTouch OS 10.5 on Android 10 Base. The hardware is actually pretty similar except for the camera. I marked the differences in bold in the table:

As you can see, the only differences between the X50 and the x50 Pro are in the display, the camera and minimal in the battery and the LTE reception. The price difference to the Pro version is pretty much € 100, which is justified in view of the camera and the complicated curved displays. More on that later.

Design and display

Although only that X50 Pro a curved display , you can clearly see that the two smartphones are siblings. Apart from that, the devices are like one egg to the other. The Glass back is kept clean except for the Vivo lettering at the bottom left and the large camera module at the top. The module of the X50 Pro is somewhat wider due to the different cameras. There is a choice of colorsLiquid oxygen”(Blue),“Black Mirror”(Black) and“Shallow”(Yellow / pink). Shallow is only available for the X50 without Pro. On the right side are the volume and power buttons. The bottom has space for the speakers Dual simSlot and a USB-C port. You won’t find an aux connection.

The front is completely covered by the display, which can only be seen through the top left Punch hole interrupted for the camera. The 90Hz Amoled display resolves with both devices 2376 x 1080 pixels and comes up with an interesting aspect ratio of 19.8: 9. It measures 6.56 inches, supports HDR10 such as HDR10 + and, according to Vivo, covers 105% of the NTSC color space. Thanks to the curved display, the X50 Pro is a little more compact than the X50, but weighs a few grams less.

Hardware and system

In terms of hardware and software, the X50 and the X50 Pro are exactly the same. Both devices rely on the Snapdragon 765G. The Octa core Processor is manufactured in the 7nm process and clocks with 2.4GHz. Stand by that 8GB RAM and optional 128GB or 256GB Hard disk.

The chip is in the upper middle class, but it does 5G and some other high-end features. In any case, the performance should be sufficient and future-proof.

The operating system is called FunTouch OS 10.5 and based on Android 10. Vivo provides at least one in the Chinese version Voice assistants called Jovi. The smartphone also has one Scanner function on board, which can convert images into Word / PDF documents.

X50 series camera

X50 and X50 Pro share the same main sensor. This is the IMX589 from Sony. The sensor also triggers 48MP and was made especially for Vivo. It is characterized by a particularly good one Night performance. For this purpose, the Sony sensor uses an AI for noise reduction and OIS and EIS to avoid blurring during long exposure times. During the day, the OIS, in conjunction with fast exposure, supports blur-free shots despite fast movements. The Portrait lens solves with 13MP on. It is also identical for the two devices. The focus is fixed here 50mm. The portrait mode is supported by a color temperature sensor, so that natural colors should be possible even in poor light.

Vivo X50 camera e1591026695461The X50 and the X50 Pro differ in the other two sensors. Both have one 8MP 120 ° wide angle sensor, on the X50 Pro this is also for macro Responsible for shots up to 2.5cm away. The X50 has a fourth dedicated for this 5MP sensorthat can even be held up to 1.5 cm from the object. The fourth sensor of the X50 Pro is a 5-fold periscope lens. So that can X50 Pro Pictures up to Zoom 60 times. The normal one X50 can only 20 times zoom digitally. The optical Zoom is only included here 2x.

Another, if not THE specialty reserved for the X50 Pro is the new one optical stabilization. The main sensor of the camera on this device is on one 5 axis “VIS” stabilization stored. Vivo did not explain what this means, I assume video image stabilization. So the camera can definitely compensate mechanically movements of + -3 ° of the smartphone. That doesn’t sound like much at first, but according to Vivo it is a quality improvement of 300% compared to conventional OIS.

Otherwise, the camera of the two devices is blessed with many extras. For example, it can automatically vlogs generate and even automatically subtitle them.

Connectivity and battery

In this area, the devices are very similar again, as you can see from the table above. Support both the X50 and the X50 Pro 5G, NFC, Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi in all frequencies. GPS, Glonas, Beidou and Galileo are of course for navigation on board and 4G. The X50 Pro supports 2 bands more. The German Volume 20 is unfortunately in both cases Not there. But who cares – we’ll have it here anyway anyway nationwide 5G. Not…

Vivo X50 battery

The battery capacities differ minimally. While the battery of the X50 4200mAh measures, the pro version makes it up 4315mAh. Both devices are loaded via Vivos Flash charge with 33 watts.

By the way, audio enthusiasts will enjoy the X50 series. Both devices are namely Hi-res audio certified and support aptX HD.

With the X50 series, Vivo has created two devices that do a lot Value on image and sound lay. The camera is top notch, the display is good, and the audio is good too. We have to cut back on that missing volume 20 do. Otherwise Vivo knows how to convince. For € 441 – € 593 the devices come onto the market in China, the import price is likely to be somewhat higher. So the price is quite high, considering that you can do that for less money Pocofone F2 gets that better processor and band 20 Has. Whether you put more emphasis on performance or the above points is a matter of taste. We are definitely looking forward to that new optical stabilization and how the device will otherwise perform in the test. Vivo could even officially launch the devices in Europe, but nothing is certain yet.
