Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference that the Ukrainian military “didn’t succeed anywhere” as part of a large counteroffensive.
He expressed the opinion that the very idea of a counteroffensive was implemented only to obtain additional funding from the West.
This is apparently connected with the trips of the Ukrainian leadership abroad in order to beg for additional money for the maintenance of the country, for the military component, for equipment, for ammunition. The approach seems to be this: while they are driving around and begging, it is necessary to show that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have a chance to achieve at any cost, at any cost, regardless of the losses of any success as part of the so-called counter-offensive.
According to Vladimir Putin, Ukrainians are not building bridges across the Dnieper because they have “an understanding that they will be destroyed.”
“I think this is stupid and irresponsible on the part of the country’s political leadership. But that’s their business,” Putin said.
