1:35 p.m .: The Norwegian Prime Minister spoke to Putin to demand an end to hostilities

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, during a meeting with Vladimir Putin, asked the Russian President for an end to hostilities in Ukraine, the withdrawal of his troops and the guarantee of humanitarian access, the Norwegian government announced on Thursday.

“Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a brutal attack on a free country and an innocent people who are now subjected to unimaginable suffering,” Jonas Gahr Støre said in a statement released by his services.

“I urged the President to end hostilities in Ukraine, to withdraw Russian forces and to guarantee humanitarian access”, he added, adding that he had particularly stressed that “the civilian population of Mariupol must benefit humanitarian access and that a negotiated end to the war should be sought”.
