The Lebanese Walid Tawfiq addressed the issue of artists’ reluctance to perform concerts in Syria for fear of being held accountable for a political stance.

Tawfiq said during his arrival as a guest on the “Show the Story” program presented by the Lebanese media, Rabia Al-Zayat: “Why do I want to be afraid, why is it going?” He stressed that he did not think twice when he was invited to perform a party for him in Syria, describing it as his “second country.”

Tawfiq revealed that during the dozens of concerts he gave recently in Syria, he was not asked to sing a song for the Syrian president or any patriotic song.

The Lebanese star also commented on the retraction of his compatriots, Hebatoji and Osama Rahbani, from reviving a concert in Syria because they were subjected to political pressure, stressing that he cannot cancel any concert, no matter how pressured he is, because the artist is “a public figure for all people, so he must be smart.”
