Wall Street indices fell after Fitch downgraded America’s credit rating

Wall Street closed lower on Wednesday, with the Standard & Poor’s 500 and the Nasdaq Composite indices dropping for the second day in a row, a day following Fitch downgraded the US government’s credit rating.

According to preliminary data, the Standard & Poor’s 500 fell 63.27 points, or 1.38%, to 4,513.46, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 332.09 points, or 0.93%, to 35,298.59.

The Nasdaq Composite fell 296.76 points, or 2.08%, to 13,987.15 points, according to Archyde.com.
