Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel defended her policy towards Russia on Tuesday, saying she did not have to “apologize“for relying on diplomacy and trade to try to avoid a war in Ukraine.
The former leader once once more harshly condemned the Russian invasion, which she said “no justification“.
“It is a brutal departure from international law for which there is no excuse.“, she said, speaking for the first time in public since retiring from political life six months ago.
