The Egyptian Medicines Authority has warned of the spread of counterfeit and adulterated packages of one of the batches of “Human Albumin”, which is mainly used for liver patients.
It is used to increase the volume of plasma, maintain cardiac production, and supply the body with albumin protein. It also helps in treating pathological conditions such as loss of body fluids, low levels of blood proteins, as in cases of bleeding, severe burns, and following a puncture procedure to remove trapped fluids inside the body.
The authority identified the counterfeit batch with the number “A4W485AA” manufactured by the “BAXTER” company, in addition to all other batches that conform to the specifications mentioned in the counterfeit package.

The authority identified a number of ways to distinguish between the original and counterfeit pharmaceutical packaging outwardly, in terms of the outer carton, the inner leaflet, and the front side of the package.
