We have not known how to take care of the planet, warns the Pope

VATICAN CITY (EFE).— Pope Francis warned yesterday that the Planet “is heading towards ruin” in a message on the social network X on the occasion of Earth Day.

“Our generation has left behind many riches, but we have not known how to guard the planet and we are not guarding peace,” the Pope’s message reads.

Francis urges us to “become artisans and builders of the common home, the Earth,” which he warns “is heading toward ruin.”

Earth Day is celebrated around the world to raise awareness and call for environmental conservation efforts.

The Argentine Pontiff is very aware of the defense of the environment and has dedicated two of his writings to the subject.

In the last one, the apostolic exhortation “Laudate Deum”, published in October 2023, warned of “political inaction and economic interests in the face of the climate crisis, while the world that welcomes us is falling apart and perhaps approaching a breaking point.” ”.

Faithful Exhortation

The exhortation “Laudate Deum” is a letter from the Pontiff addressed to the faithful.

Deniers

In it, Pope Francis charges once morest climate change deniers because “no matter how much they try to deny, hide, dissemble or relativize, the signs of climate change are there, increasingly evident.”
