The West Virginia Commission on the Arts hosted a reception Thursday evening at the Grave Creek Mound.
This is the first time the state organization has chosen to host it’s gathering in Moundsville.

Events like this allow the organization to look at some of the state’s history and also plan for the future.
“It’s not just for the arts commission,” Commission Curator Randall Reid-Smith said. “It’s for the whole state – arts, tourism, state parks, archives in history.
“And Moundsville, as you know, is quite unique. No place like it.”
The organization will visit West Virginia Independence Hall Friday to continue the conversation.
