CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) —

West Virginia Transportation Secretary Jimmy Wriston was pulled over by police in a state vehicle Tuesday night in the Charleston area, the governor confirmed.

Gov. Jim Justice addressed a question regarding the incident during his news briefing Wednesday, saying all he currently knew was that the department head was pulled over and then let go and allowed to continue to drive.

Charleston police made the traffic stop on Interstate 77. The police department told Eyewitness News that it is looking into the matter.

“I’m sure the police did their job properly,” Justice said during his briefing.

The governor also said he does not believe there was any attempt to cover up the traffic stop and that he did not currently have any other information.
