It is expected that President Putin will declare war on Ukraine on May 9 to proclaim the success of the military operation. and called for support from the Russians as well as intensifying the Russian military in attacking and capturing the Donbas region. The pro-Russian separatist group has been fighting the Ukrainian army for more than eight years.
It is estimated that thousands of Ukrainian civilians have died. More than 5 million people have been evacuated from fighting, while at least 10,000 Russian soldiers are thought to have been killed since the Russian army invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24.
