Before the first lock everyone has jitters. Even Manno, Locaboat’s houseboat rental company, warns us with a grin: “There is a small café right on the water, the locals like to watch holidaymakers how they do it.” All right, we’re preparing to be the laughing stock of everyone. Our floating holiday home is 2.90 meters above water, 11.8 meters long, we don’t need a boat license, nor any prior knowledge. We are still a little nervous: right in front of us in the harbor our boat looks quite impressive. In order to get it safely through all the locks, we have to work as a team of three.
