The average women’s pension in Upper Austria is less than 1200 euros gross, that of men almost 2200 euros. Only in Vorarlberg is the gap between men’s and women’s pensions greater. These latest data from the Pensionsversicherungsanstalt are the result of a number of ingredients that have shaped – and continue to shape – the employment of women over the decades.
