Omar Junior, the grandson of the artist Omar Sharif, was known for his boldness, as he announced in press statements regarding his homosexual tendencies, without regard to any customs or traditions of the Egyptian or Arab society in general.
Omar Sharif’s grandson had previously spoken regarding his world grandfather, Omar Sharif, and his grandmother, the star Faten Hamama.
While commenting on a photo of them on his Instagram page, he said: “My grandparents are a constant source of hope, inspiration and courage, I continue to look to them for answers in these difficult and uncertain times.”
In a previous interview with the international star Omar Sharif, with the media, Lamis Al-Hadidi on a program on Channel One, Omar Sharif defended his grandchildren, specifically Omar Junior, who is known to be gay and from a Canadian Jewish mother, and Omar Sharif said repeatedly: “My son and my grandchildren are all Muslims.”
Omar Sharif added when asked specifically regarding his grandson Omar Junior, he said that his son Tariq married a Canadian woman and had a child, then they separated quickly and returned to Canada with her son, but Omar Sharif and his son Tariq succeeded in getting his grandson Omar Junior back and lived and raised with Omar Sharif’s family, according to him.
Omar Sharif also said that he was keen to teach his son Tariq the Arabic language and the Qur’an, and he brought a Palestinian teacher for him to give him private lessons, and the same thing he did with his grandchildren.
As for his grandson, he talked regarding the reaction of his grandfather Omar Sharif when Omar Junior announced that he was gay, and he said that nothing had changed and they did not speak at length regarding this matter and that it remained the same for his family.
