WHO says Covid is poised to be a threat similar to seasonal flu

The World Health Organization has said it hopes to lower the maximum alert level for Covid-19 in 2023.

The WHO said on Friday it hoped to lower its maximum alert level for Covid-19 this year, believing that the epidemic was on the verge of no longer representing a threat similar to seasonal flu.

“I think we’re getting to the point where we can look at Covid-19 the same way we look at seasonal flu,” WHO emergency programs chief Michael Ryan told a conference. Press.
