Because it does not have the capacity to process the raw material, Romania exports almost a quarter of its production, most of it to Germany and Italy.

If Romania fully exploited the arable land it has, whose area is 20 times larger than the European average, it would produce food for 80 million people, i.e. the entire population of Romania multiplied by four.
