Doctors say that exercise in type 2 diabetes is good for health. And that’s why.
Time matters
In his statement, the therapist Elena Smirnova is based on a study by American scientists who published the results in the journal Diabetes Care.
“They believe that people with such a disease should at least engage in physical education,” the doctor says, “physical activity is vital for them.
Proper diet and moderate physical activity reduce blood sugar, do not allow excess weight to increase, prevent the development of complications in the vessels, prolonging life and pushing back diseases of the heart, brain, kidneys, eyes, limbs, the doctor believes.
The Americans tested their hypothesis for a year, testing 2,400 patients with type 2 diabetes. The patients were divided into 6 groups. The first led an inactive lifestyle, the second was engaged at different times of the day, in the third morning they started with exercises, in the fourth they did it around noon, the fifth started classes in the afternoon, in the sixth – in the evening.
After a year of observations, the fifth group won with a big advantage. These patients had low levels of glycated hemoglobin by as much as 30-50%.
Stand up for charging
According to the physician-psychoendocrinologist of the diabetic association Mikhail Bogomolovthere is an explanation for this phenomenon:
– Half an hour before dawn, our body levels of cortisol, an adrenal hormone that plays a large role in regulating blood glucose, rise in the body. And when the sun reaches its zenith, cortisol starts to drop. This is also important for physical activity.
The doctor considers brisk walking, Nordic walking, and jogging to be the optimal types of physical activity for diabetics.
