WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The City of Wichita Falls is poised to make a significant investment in its future with plans to acquire the Sikes Senter Mall property, a sprawling 60-acre site. So new college students you multiply that together, it creates a virtuous circle.And so all of a sudden, we go from flat to flourishing,” he explained.

Crucially, Kitchens assured that the project woudl not necessitate any increase in local property taxes. The financing strategy involves utilizing sales tax revenue from the city’s 4A and 4B economic development corporations.Furthermore, the land designated for the stadium will be leased to the university, ensuring continued community control over the property.

In parallel with the redevelopment, city officials will collaborate with existing mall businesses to assist them in finding new locations within the community as the project progresses.

A public hearing has been scheduled for August 14th, providing an prospect for community members to voice their opinions and engage with the proposed plans.
