Vienna – Wiener Stadtwerke sees itself as a “climate protection group” and as such has set itself the goal of completely replacing gas heating systems in Vienna by 2040. “With our companies we are in a position to shape the complete energy and mobility transition,” said the new general director Peter Weinelt in an APA interview. Instead of gas, Vienna should heat with district heating, heat pumps and geothermal energy in the future, the electricity should be renewable and cars should be electric, according to the vision.
