Sonic Fire Tech’s system utilizes a large reciprocating piston, similar to those found in car engines, driven by an electric motor. This piston generates powerful infrasound waves. The current prototype can effectively suppress flames from up to 25 feet away, with plans to scale the system to a range of 330 feet.

The escalating cost of wildfires – estimated at up to $424 billion annually in the U.S. – is forcing a reckoning within the insurance industry. Insurers are increasingly refusing to renew policies in high-risk areas, leaving homeowners vulnerable. Sonic Fire Tech is actively engaging with insurance companies to gain certification for their system, potentially offering policyholders a pathway to coverage and peace of mind. If the technology gains widespread acceptance, it could fundamentally reshape the risk landscape for homeowners in wildfire zones.

Despite the promising advancements, challenges remain. Scaling production, optimizing system efficiency, and demonstrating long-term reliability are crucial steps.
