DECRYPTION – The season opens this Thursday with the Rallye Monte-Carlo and new cars which should revive interest.
The World Rally Championship will celebrate its half-century of existence this year. A venerable age for a discipline that finds itself at a major turning point in its history. While Formula E, Formula 1, Endurance and even the Dakar have already taken the turn towards electrification, the WRC will not open this chapter until this Thursday at Rallye Monte-Carlo, the first round of the season. “We should have gotten there before, but in the end the main thing is to get there“, had tried to positive Jean Todt a year ago, a few months before handing over to the head of the International Automobile Federation to his successor Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
