Will Mikel Arteta leave Arsenal at the end of the season?

The confirmed post-season departures of Juergen Klopp from Liverpool and Xavi from Barcelona have triggered an avalanche of speculations regarding the coaching carousel in top European clubs. The Catalan daily Sport reports that Mikel Arteta would also say goodbye to his job following the end of the current campaign.

The 41-year-old Spaniard and former Gunners midfielder returned to the Emirates Stadium in December 2019. Since then, he has led Londoners to win the FA Cup and two Community Shield triumphs. He is also the current runner-up in England.

For several weeks, when there has been a discussion in the media regarding Xavi’s departure from Barcelona and his possible successors, the name of the Spanish coach of Arsenal has repeatedly appeared on the wish list of Blaugrana fans, but has also been mentioned by experts. Joan Laporta himself has also often spoken favorably regarding the Arsenal coach and it is clear that he has great respect for him.

Now these speculations have become even more intense as the Catalan daily Sport reported that Arteta will say goodbye to Arsenal at the end of the season. This might open the door to his employment at Barcelona. However, we have a double opinion on this matter, because shortly following these reports were denied by the British Sky Sports.

The Gunners, with Arteta on the bench, are currently third in the Premier League, five points behind leaders Liverpool. The coach himself did not comment on these words of the Catalan portal and they remain unconfirmed for now.
