If you have known the 1970s and 1980s, you probably have many memories around the 4L car …
A true legendary vehicle, this Renault 4 model has established itself as the popular and emblematic car of France. With 8 million copies having found buyers, the Renault 4 remains to this day one of the best-selling French cars in the history of the automobile.
But no more 4L was built from 1992. The object therefore now belongs to the heritage and remains reserved for collections or shopping…
A big comeback in electric version?
However, the nostalgic can rejoice: the 4L could well mark its big comeback on the roads! According to several media, such France Blue or RTL, Renault is preparing to announce the return of the Renault 4 as well as that of the R5.
Often announced, this great comeback could be confirmed by the new general manager Luca de Meo this Thursday, January 14, 2021, during the presentation of its strategic plan “Renaulution”.
For the moment the information is not confirmed by the automobile company. Contacted on multiple occasions, Renault did not wish to answer our questions.
A new electric model
This possible return would be part of the trend of the comeback of old models, as BMW did with the mini, Volkswagen with the Beetle or even Citroën with the DS.
But since we are no longer in the 1980s, Renault is planning a big change: build the 4L in an electric version! This might make the car easier to drive and more enjoyable than the old model.
Already in July 2019, Renault announced the construction of a new electric convertible named e-Plein Air. A nod to the legendary Renault 4L Plein Air.
Regarding the new version of the 4L, you will have to wait a little longer before going to your car dealership.
For now, no marketing date or price has been put forward.
