SQUID GAME. Real surprise success on Netflix, will Squid Game be entitled to a season 2? Its creator brought up the subject in interviews.
[Mis à jour le 15 octobre 2021 à 11h00] It is the surprise success of Netflix since mid-September. Squid Game became the most viewed series on the streaming platform when it was launched worldwide: according to published figures, this South Korean fiction would have been seen by 111 million subscribed households less than a month after it was put online. , which would be a record for Netflix. The subscribers of the platform have thus been seduced by this intrigue which follows people in precariousness who participate in deadly games, which allows the winner to win an astronomical sum of money.
But does this success allow us to hope for a season 2 of Squid Game in the future? Netflix has not yet communicated on a potential sequel to its South Korean series. Season 1 creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has spoken to Variety on September 24, 2021, specifying that new episodes were not yet written. The director and showrunner has indeed thought of the series as a mini-series whose end, open, concludes the plot. However, he doesn’t completely close the door on a sequel: “I don’t have any specific plans for a Squid Game 2. It tires me just thinking about it. But if I had to do it, I wouldn’t. probably not alone. I would like to work with several writers and lean on several experienced directors. “
What plots are possible for Squid Game season 2?
Nearby Hollywood Reporter, the creator of Squid Game also touched on the different storylines that could be dealt with during a potential season 2: “It’s true, season 1 has an open ending, but in reality, I thought it could be a good conclusion to the story […] But there are other intrigues in the series that have not been mentioned, like that of the police commander and that of his brother. If I find myself writing a season 2, I would love to write this plot […]and I could also look at the story of this recruiter in a suit […] And, of course, we could write the rest of Gi-hun’s story […]So, I don’t know yet. But I would only say that there are several possibilities of intrigue for a season 2 “. We will therefore have to wait for an official communication from Netflix on the subject to be fixed.
In France, Squid Game is controversial in schools: children reproduce games from the Netflix series. Therefore, the question arises of the age limit for viewing this South Korean program. The streaming platform mentions directly on the Squid Game page that this content is restricted to people aged 16 and over, due to its violence. So how can we prevent children and those under 16 from watching the series? Apart from youth accounts, it is possible to set up parental controls on their Netflix account. All you have to do is go to Account> Profile and parental control> Access restriction. You can then change the age category (content that does not fall within the imposed age limit will no longer be accessible) or target specific content that must not appear, such as Squid Game for example. Please note, if you have several profiles that your children can access, these restrictions should be imposed on all profiles.
