Venezuelan Wilyer Abreu hit two home runs and tied a career high with four RBIs to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 7-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Monday.

Boston’s leadoff hitter, Mexican-American Jarren Duran, who had three hits, launched a tie-breaking home run for the second time in less than three weeks at the Rangers’ home.

Corey Seager homered for the Rangers for the third time in the series — his 22nd of the season — and Josh Jung homered for the first time in his fifth game back after missing three months with a fractured right wrist.

Rookie Cam Booser (2-2) pitched a perfect 1 1/3 innings of relief, the first of four Boston relievers to retire 13 of the 14 Texas batters they faced.

Abreu got his first multi-homer game with a solo shot in the fourth inning off Texas starter Nathan Eovaldi (8-5), whose scoreless streak ended at 43 1/3 innings against 167 batters, both franchise records, when he walked Masataka Yoshida with one out in the first.

Abreu has seen the ball clearly in the series against the Texans. In 11 at-bats he has five hits, three of them home runs, he has driven in seven runs, he has four runs scored for an average of .454 in this series.

For the Red Sox, Venezuelan Wilyer Abreu went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Dominican Rafael Devers went 1-for-5 with one run scored.

SHOHEI OHTANI IS NEW 30-30

Shohei Ohtani continues to add milestones to his Major League career. The Los Angeles Dodgers star reached 30 stolen bases, thus joining the 30-30 club.

In the top of the ninth inning, the Japanese stole second base and reached 30 stolen bases for the season. In addition, he has already hit 33 home runs.
