casablanca, Morocco – The crucial role of African female leadership was the focal point of the 3rd annual Women summit, which commenced Wednesday evening in Casablanca. The event drew a distinguished audience from the political, diplomatic, and economic sectors.
Under the honorary patronage of Her Royal Highness The Princess Lalla Meryem, and organized by the Startup Grow Foundation through its Growth Women program, the Women Summit 2025 spanned two days, June 18 and 19. It served as a premier platform uniting female leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers from Morocco and across the globe, all dedicated to forging a prosperous, resilient, and inclusive future for the African continent.

The Minister lauded the Women Summit as an “impact platform,” emphasizing Morocco’s commitment to making female leadership a key driver of its progress strategy, both nationally and through its african partnerships.
International Support for Inclusive Development
Gilles Heyvaert, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Morocco, reiterated Belgium’s commitment to supporting Morocco’s inclusive and sustainable development, with a specific focus on women’s economic empowerment.
He highlighted the “Min Ajliki” program,implemented by APEFE (Association for the Promotion of Education and Training Abroad),which aims to strengthen women’s entrepreneurship and employability in Morocco,in collaboration with institutional and associative partners. The program has supported over 50,000 women through entrepreneurship support, capacity building, and inclusion, including young women not in education, employment, or training (NEETs).
“This 3rd edition asserts itself as a space for enhancement of initiatives, strategic reflection and multi-active synergies around the issues linked to the economic empowerment of women, allowing to highlight good practices, to promote social innovation, and to strengthen national and international partnership dynamics in favor of inclusive growth,” he said.
Casablanca’s Transformation and Female Leadership
Nabila Rmili, President of the Casablanca Municipal Council, commended the initiative’s aim to celebrate “transformative female leadership” in economic, social, and environmental fields. She emphasized that female leadership is a strategic development lever for Morocco, with Casablanca as a prime example of economic and digital transformation.
Speaking through Malika Mezzour, Vice-President of the Council, Ms. Rmili stated, “the Women Summit, through its rich themes and high-quality network, represents an essential space for reflection, cooperation, and action for an Africa driven by bold and visionary leaders from Morocco and Africa.”

Hanane Aït Aïssa, president of the Startup Grow Foundation, emphasized that this year’s summit, themed “A New World, New Challenges for Africa: Women, Engines of Innovation, Equity, and sustainability,” is more than just an event. It is indeed a dynamic space for dialogue, transmission, and collective mobilization towards an inclusive and sustainable Africa.
“Bringing together women and men committed, this meeting highlights the silent and powerful dynamics that emerge in schools, businesses, cities as in the most remote territories,” she said, adding that this summit is an extension of the work carried out by the Startup Grow Foundation on the ground, in Morocco and in several African countries. Melissa Allen, founder of Capital M and a recipient of the medal of King Charles III – Canada 2024, received the “trophy of economic resilience and female entrepreneurship” for her inspiring entrepreneurial journey.
The “female innovation and leadership trophy” was awarded to Snyleseh Stephenie Dahn Koung, 2nd Lady of the Republic of Liberia, for her innovative initiatives in women’s empowerment in Liberia. fatima Camara, Minister of fisheries and the Maritime Economy of Equatorial Guinea, received the “Trophy of the voice of the African diaspora,” while the “Trophy of Institutional Equality Commitment” was given to the CFA Morocco – Club of Women Administrators.
The event also featured the signing of several strategic agreements between Startup Grow and partners, including Veolia Maroc, APEFE, and Group of 77 (Desabled Headquarters).
