“Today I was charged by the Athletics Integrity Unit with an alleged rule violation for missing three tests in 12 months,” she said in an Instagram post.

The Nigerian achieved the world record during the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, USA, last year (12.12 seconds).

The 26-year-old vowed to resolve the matter ahead of this year’s edition, which is scheduled for next month in Budapest.

“I intend to fight this charge, and a court of 3 arbitrators will decide my case before the start of the World Championships next month,” she said.

She continued “I am a clean athlete (in capital letters), and I am tested regularly (maybe more than usual) by the Integrity Unit, I was tested within days of the +3 missed test+. I have confidence that this issue will be resolved in my favor and that I will participate in a championship the world”.

On Sunday, Amusan participated in the Silesia meeting within the Diamond League in Poland, and set a record in the meetings with a time of 12.34 seconds.

At the Golden Spike meet in the Czech Republic last month, she finished third, losing out to Tokyo Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quen of Puerto Rico, who won in 12.42s.

When asked regarding improving the world record, she said, “Nothing is impossible and (going down to) 11 seconds? Absolutely.”

But she was less confident regarding the argument for raising barriers to prioritize technology over speed.

“Don’t do that, don’t raise the barricades. Please,” said Amusan, who is 1.56m tall.
