WTA Tallinn: Belinda Bencic fails in the semi-finals – rts.ch

In Tallinn, following a long undecided match, Belinda Bencic (14) ended up losing. In the semi-finals, the Saint-Galloise was beaten by Barbora Krejcikova (27) in 3 sets, 7-6 (7/5) 6-7 (2/7) 2-6. She thus misses her 3rd final of the year in a WTA tournament.

Winner of Roland-Garros in 2021, but beaten twice by Belinda Bencic in their first two confrontations before this semi-final in Estonia, the Czech won 6-7 (5/7) 7-6 (7/ 2) 6-2 following a 3h18 marathon.

Even if Belinda Bencic was 2 points from victory at 5-4 and 6-5 in the 2nd set, the success of Barbora Krejcikova is well deserved. The Czech was indeed the most enterprising on the court once morest a Bencic who always hesitates a little too much before taking this step forward which changes everything.

Belinda Bencic thus had to defend… 20 break points once morest only 2 for her opponent. And even if she dismissed 2 balls in the 1st set at 6-5 before winning the decisive game to take the score on her own, she was never able to carry the blow.
