Officials started the rescue operation despite the most adverse circumstances.

A patrol from the Zell am See water police had to get to safety on the southern shore of the lake on Thursday evening – because of an approaching storm. Gusts of wind, heavy rain, high waves and hail had jeopardized the continuation of the journey. But nothing came of the secure waiting in the hut. The police noticed that regarding 100 meters away three men on a surfboard were in distress. Without hesitation, the police launched their boat for a salvage operation. Under the most adverse conditions, they were able to bring the three men to shore unharmed.
