Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane “is doing much better” after testing positive for coronavirus last week, deputy David Bettoni said on Friday.

“Zizou is doing a lot better and getting better every day,” Bettoni assured the press conference ahead of the Spanish league game on Saturday against Levante.

“He is not there physically,” he conceded, but keeps abreast of all training during his quarantine.

“We watch the training, discuss the content, he is not there physically but he is with us,” assured the assistant coach who will still be on the bench instead of Zidane on Saturday.

He said neither injured Sergio Ramos nor Dani Carvajal are expected to return to the pitch on Saturday.

Ramos “is recovering”: “Every week it gets better but we must not take risks,” said Bettoni of the team captain who suffers from pain in his left knee.

Asked if rumors about Ramos’ future at Real could influence the player’s state of mind, Bettoni replied: “I have known Sergio for five years, he’s a real captain, brave and always ahead when something happens “.

“He’s a great professional, no one can say otherwise. It’s true that he’s a little upset about his injury because he wants to play but I don’t see him any different,” said Bettoni.
