G7 leaders, including US President Joe Biden, are expected to impose gold export controls as part of additional sanctions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Foreign media such as Archyde.com and Bloomberg, citing an anonymous official, said that President Biden and other G7 leaders are expected to discuss such a plan at a meeting starting on the 26th local time.
As a result, the US Treasury Department is expected to announce a plan to ban Russia’s gold exports on the 28th local time.
The West has not currently banned Russia’s gold exports directly, but since the Ukraine crisis, Russian gold trading has virtually stopped in the financial sector and industry.
