New actor Woo Hyun-jin (24) successfully completed his debut drama, tvN’s Saturday and Sunday drama ‘The Tale of a Gumiho 1938’ (written by Han Woo-ri, directed by Kang Shin-hyo).
‘The Tale of a Nine Tailed Fox 1938’ is an action drama played by Lee Yeon (Lee Dong-wook), a nine-tailed fox who made an emergency landing in 1938 in an era of chaos.
Woo Hyun-jin plays the role of a mermaid with a beautiful voice and the lover of Yi-yeon’s younger brother Lee Rang (played by Kim Bum).
Woo Hyun-jin said, “I am so grateful and honored to be able to work with good seniors in a good field in my first work. I am deeply moved by the interest and love from so many people.”
Woo Hyun-jin debuted in a drama with ‘The Tale of a Gumiho 1938’. If she hadn’t passed the audition, she would still have been an aspiring actress.
Woo Hyun-jin said, “I am a fan of season 1, and I remember having fun watching it, but I was happy to be able to work with a new character. He was happy to finally meet his first work he had been waiting for, but on the other hand, he was not too happy because he wanted to become someone. I was able to not be too nervous because the seniors guided me on set.”
‘Yeo-hee’, played by Woo Hyun-jin, is a mermaid who lives as an anonymous singer in a boutique by day and a club paradise by night. Hyunjin Woo, who belongs to Starship Entertainment, which includes Monsta X, Cosmic Girls, Cravity, and Ive, practiced like an idol trainee in the practice room of her company building to look like a real singer.
Woo Hyun-jin said, “I wanted to show a professional side on stage, so I studied gestures through practice. While she sang the song herself in the office building practice room, she learned the melody and agonized over her motion. She was sung on the air, but she sang it herself during the actual filming. Among the staff, there were some people who misunderstood that she was an idol trainee, but it felt good because she seemed to look at her favorably,” she confessed.
