“Head of Nursing Lcda María Suárez of the Carora Hospital, Lara, is handcuffed for demanding the use of a mask from an official,” he denounced United Doctors of Venezuela Through social networks.

According to the nurses at this hospital located in the Torres municipality, Ms. Suárez only asked the officer to put on a mask because I was in a public area as it is a health center and in response the official put handcuffs on her and later took her to the Health Center Directorate.

Although the official was not on duty, he took this action against the nurse, whom he handcuffed down the stairs to the first floor where the management office of the first health center in the capital of Torrent is located.

Dr. Ángel Chirinos, director of the hospital, who was in that office, asked the policeman to take the handcuffs off the worker, but he did not do so, but after 45 minutes.

Other nurses and hospital staff were present in the aforementioned office, who rejected this fact and began to record and take photos of the police officer to upload them to social networks.

“Call whoever you want, but remove the hooks. She has her rights as a professional, as a womanas head of this institution”, one of the nurses is heard telling the official through a video broadcast on social networks.

Both the prefect of the Torres municipality, Elvis Méndez and Dr. Ángel Chirinos repudiated the fact, indicating that although they respect the police institution, it is unacceptable to overlook this case carried out by an individual that disfavors the image of the police force, for which They will take the appropriate legal action.

For her part, the nurse went to the public prosecutor’s office in Carora to report what had happened.

Meanwhile, the different workers’ unions called on the nursing college as well as the regional and national health authorities to take action and provide protection to health personnel, who in their opinion are unprotected.
