[경제]Ministry of Science and ICT budget 18.9 trillion… 2 trillion won to preoccupy future innovative technologies

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that next year’s budget and fund management plan for preemption of future innovative technologies and digital innovation has been finalized at 18.8686 trillion won.

A total of 2.2 trillion won was allocated for the future innovative technology project, including 29 billion won for the development of the next-generation launch vehicle and 67.5 billion won for the development of the Korean satellite navigation system.

The budget for digital innovation is KRW 1.9 trillion, up 10.4% from this year.

In addition, 12 billion won was newly invested in semiconductor design verification infrastructure, such as reinforcing old equipment in public semiconductor research facilities, and 6.48 billion won was allocated for the development of core technologies at the national semiconductor laboratory.

Meanwhile, the government’s R&D budget increased by 900 billion won from last year to 30.7 trillion won, surpassing 30 trillion won for the first time.

The Ministry of Science and ICT explained that next year’s government R&D budget will focus on investing in super-gap technologies such as space, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum, secondary batteries, advanced biotechnology, and next-generation nuclear power plants.
