The death toll from Cyclone Sitrang that hit Bangladesh has risen to 24.
Foreign media such as AFP and Bangladesh media reported that damage occurred one after another after Citrang landed on the southern coast on the night of the 24th, citing the police and other tally on the 26th local time.
Most of those who died were killed by falling trees or walls, and two were killed by overturning the boat.
Eight people were also missing from the sinking of the ship, so authorities are conducting a search operation.
“Nearly 10,000 houses were destroyed but damaged,” said Kamrul Ashan, deputy minister for disaster management.
Authorities announced that the death toll was nine on the 24th alone, but the damage increased as the city moved inland and it rained heavily.
