[국제]Japan’s Kishida Cabinet’s lowest approval rating in the first year of inauguration ‘wasting’… Inevitably affected by Korea-Japan relations

[앵커]

The Kishida cabinet, which has been inaugurated for a year, is shaking as it continues to have the lowest approval ratings.

Director Abe, who bought the public backlash, is over, but the rebound in approval ratings is unclear due to bad factors such as high inflation, which is likely to affect South Korea-Japan relations.

Correspondent Lee Kyung-ah from Tokyo reports.

Prime Minister Kishida took office after winning the election of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in October last year.

The elections for the House of Representatives and the House of Councilors held for a year exceeded expectations.

The leadership, which had been on a solid footing for three years without national elections, is now facing its greatest crisis.

The blow to the former Prime Minister Abe’s director-general against the will of the people was huge.

[기시다 후미오 / 일본 총리 : 국민의 엄중한 의견을 듣는 자세야말로 정치인 기시다 후미오의 원점이라는 초심을 다시 한번 가슴에 새기며 총리로서 역할을 다할 것입니다.]

Although the director, who was selected as one of the worst of the bad news, ended in controversy, the Cabinet approval ratings fell even more.

As a result of the Asahi, Yomiuri, and JNN opinion polls conducted after taking office, the approval rating for the cabinet was at its lowest level since its inauguration in October last year.

This is because, although the party level investigated and announced the allegations of collusion between the former Unification Church and the LDP, additional suspicions were revealed one after another, raising public distrust.

In the opinion poll, about 70% of the people evaluated the Kishida cabinet’s economic measures negatively.

The government failed to come up with effective countermeasures against record price spikes, such as a 30% rise in electricity rates for a new year.

This situation is also expected to affect issues such as forced mobilization in Korea and Japan.

This is because, with the lowest level of support for the Cabinet since its inauguration, it has become more difficult to show a flexible stance toward Korea on acute historical issues.

Although communication between the two countries has continued recently, such as the meeting between the leaders of Korea and Japan, Japan seems to stick to its position to bring an acceptable solution.
