AFP/Archyde.com reported on the 18th local time that Ghana’s national football team striker Christian Artz, who disappeared after the earthquake in Turkiye, was found dead.
Art’s manager, Murat Uzunmehmet, told the local DHA news agency that “the body was recovered from a collapsed building in southern Turkey, and his cell phone was also found.”
Rescue authorities explained that the place of discovery was ‘Renaissance Residence’, a luxury apartment complex in Antakya, Hatay Province, where Art resides.
Artz is a well-known player among domestic soccer fans, mainly playing in the European big leagues, before moving to Turkey’s professional football club Hatayspor last year.
Turkiye police have announced that they have arrested the contractor for the apartment complex on charges of poor construction.
