[기상센터]New Year’s Space Show not to be missed, ‘Planet Alignment’ in June

[앵커]

In the New Year’s night sky, colorful space shows such as meteor showers and lunar eclipses decorate the night sky.

In particular, do not miss the ‘planetary alignment’ in June and the ‘total lunar eclipse’ in November.

The first space show that illuminates the night sky in the new year of Im In-nyeon is ‘Shooting Star’.

At the dawn of January 4, one of the three major meteor showers, ‘Quadrant Meteor Shower’, decorates the dark night sky.

Up to 100 shooting stars fall every hour, and it is expected to be spectacular.

In particular, the 3rd, the day before the maximum, is the ‘Old Eve’ without the moon, so the 3rd and 4th are optimal conditions for observing shooting stars.

In June, a unique space show that is difficult to see once in a lifetime appears.

It is a fantastic phenomenon in which the seven planets in the solar system align in a straight line.

At around 4:30 a.m. on the 16th, starting with Mercury on the eastern horizon, Venus, Uranus, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, and Saturn will line up along the ecliptic.

Here, you will be able to see the once planets of Pluto and the moon all at a glance.

Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are visible to the naked eye.

In November, a ‘total lunar eclipse’ is scheduled, in which the moon turns red as it is obscured by the earth’s shadow.

In particular, this year, the so-called ‘occupation’ phenomenon, in which Uranus hides and appears behind the red moon during a lunar eclipse, will appear at the same time, creating a more special appearance.
