Former Special Prosecutor Park Young-soo of the National Nongdan Association voluntarily resigned from the special prosecutor’s office after suspicions of borrowing a Porsche from a ‘fake fisherman’ and receiving an expensive gift.

When the prosecution tried to prosecute him, it was confirmed that he had recently requested the convening of an investigation deliberation committee, saying he was not subject to criminal punishment.

This is the exclusive report of reporter Son Gu-min.

In December 2020, former Special Prosecutor Park Young-soo was accused of borrowing a Porsche car from Mr. Kim, a so-called ‘fake fisherman’.

It was revealed that he received expensive seafood gifts such as snow crab and guwamegi.

The police sent the former special prosecutor to the charge of violating the so-called ‘Kim Young-ran Act’, and it is said that the prosecution also decided that the former special prosecutor should indict Park.

It has been confirmed that former special prosecutor Park recently requested the convening of the prosecution’s investigation deliberation committee.

The Investigation Deliberation Committee, held by randomly drawing 15 people from all walks of life, is a system that listens to the opinions of the general public on the investigation and handling of cases.

Former Special Prosecutor Park resigned from the Special Prosecutor’s Office for the first time in 4 years and 7 months after it was revealed that he had received money from a fake fisherman.

At the same time, he has been belatedly paying 2.5 million won for the rental of a Porsche car, and has insisted that the gift is not expensive.

Former Special Prosecutor Park has been fighting fiercely with the police and prosecutors’ investigation teams, especially regarding legal relations.

It is argued that the position of ‘special prosecutor’ is not subject to the ‘Kim Young-ran Act’ because it is not a public official, but a civilian who performs public duties instead.

When the Investigation Deliberation Committee is held, it is expected that these arguments will be repeated.

The Citizens’ Committee of the Prosecutors’ Office will decide whether to accept the request of the former special prosecutor and hold an investigation deliberation committee.
