[단독] Korean referee for voicing ‘Olympic biased judgment’, stripped of international referee

[앵커]

It has been two months since the Beijing Winter Olympics ended, but the impact of the short track bias judgment continues. As a result of the JTBC coverage, it was confirmed that the judges who made difficult judgments were not subject to any sanctions, while the international judges in Korea were disqualified.

This is Onnuri reporter.

At the beginning of the Olympics, the short track race was biased in favor of China.

Our athletes also became victims, including Hwang Dae-heon’s absurd disqualification in the 1000m semifinal.

The day after raising an objection to the decision, the Korea Sports Association held a press conference and raised its voice that it would file a complaint with the Sports Arbitration Committee.

International Referee Choi Yong-gu of the International Skating Federation and ISU also participated here.

This is because, according to ISU rules, international referees are not allowed to speak on behalf of a country, but they decided that strong remarks were necessary to calm the atmosphere of the referee’s rush.

[최용구/국제심판 (지난 2월 8일) : 오심은 한 번으로 족하지 한 번 이상이 되면 그건 오심이 아닙니다. 고의적입니다.]

However, this press conference returned as a boomerang after two months.

The ISU notified our skating federation on the 8th that “there have been protests from both countries” and “they have decided to be excluded from the ISU referee.”

With this, the number of ISU judges in Korea has been reduced from three to two.

On the other hand, as the Olympic referee at the time of the suspicion of ‘biased judgment’ was not subject to any sanctions, the ISU’s fairness is also questioned.
