The prison guard claimed that he had paid for the inmate’s Sports Toto with a portion of the money received, but it was found that he gave preferential treatment such as calling his family on his cell phone.
The Ministry of Justice removed the officer from his post, and the correctional authorities launched an investigation.

Inmate A in his 20s at the 3rd Prison in North Gyeongsang Province, which was called Cheongsong Prison, gave 1 million won to Prisoner B in his 50s last month.
After that, I transferred 5 million won and 3 million won back to Mr. B’s borrowed account, but I called my family inside the prison and asked for the money to be transferred.

In February, a prison guard at Pohang Prison in North Gyeongsang Province was caught receiving money from an inmate, and before that, a prison guard at Busan Detention Center received 30 million won from inmates and was sentenced to three years in prison.
