In the court, from the beginning of the new year, bold trial sentences are scheduled in a row.

The first court judgments will be handed down one after another against former lawmaker Kwak Sang-do, who is suspected of taking a large amount of back money from the Daejang-dong gang, and former Justice Minister Cho Kook, who is surrounded by suspicions of irregularities in the entrance examination of his children and ignoring the inspection.

The first trial is scheduled for the 25th for former lawmaker Kwak Sang-do, who is accused of receiving bribes from the Daejang-dong gang.

It is the first time a court judges among those who have been handed over to trial for corruption in Daejang-dong.

Former Congressman Kwak is accused of taking 5 billion won in the name of severance pay and incentives for his son who worked at Hwacheon Daeyu in exchange for help in the business of Daejang-dong and his gang.

At the final hearing in November last year, the prosecution asked the court to sentence former Rep. Kwak to 15 years in prison, a fine of 5 billion won, and an additional fine of 2.5 billion won.

Lawyers Kim Man-bae and Nam-wook, the major shareholders of Hwacheon Daeyu, who are accused of giving bribes and illegal political funds to former Congressman Kwak, respectively, were scheduled to be sentenced on the same day.

Former Congressman Kwak is claiming innocence, saying he never helped the Daejang-dong gang.

The first court judgment will also be made on former Justice Minister Cho Kuk, who was charged with suspicion of ‘corruption in the entrance examination of children and ignorance of inspection’.

Former Minister Cho is accused of suspending the special inspection team’s inspection of Yoo Jae-soo, former vice mayor of Busan City, for alleged misconduct while serving as senior secretary for civil affairs at the Blue House.

In addition, he and his wife, former professor Kyung-Shim Chung, were sentenced to 5 years in prison by the prosecution on charges of falsely issuing a certificate of their son’s internship activity and using it for graduate school entrance exams.

In addition, the first trial of former Blue House secretary Lee Gwang-cheol, former Justice Ministry immigration director Cha Gyu-geun, and prosecutor Lee Kyu-won, who were involved in the ‘illegal departure ban case’, former Vice Minister of Justice Kim Hak-eui, are scheduled to be sentenced.

The verdict on the damages lawsuit filed by the victim’s family against Lee Jae-myung, the representative of the Democratic Party of Korea, who called his nephew’s murder crime ‘dating violence’, will also be delivered on the 12th.
